Why tort reform is a bad idea | Virginia Personal Injury Lawyer

<p><a href='http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-hiltzik1-2009oct01,0,7502095.column'>Tort reform is the healthcare debate's frivolous sideshow </a>.</p>               

A recent article in the LA Times shows the problem with tort reform and how the only people who really benefit from it are the insurance companies.

The insurance companies would love to avoid any sort of health care reform that might cut into their enormous profits and just focus the debate on tort reform.

I hear a lot about "frivolous lawsuits", but any lawyer would be a fool to knowingly take on a case he or she thinks is frivolous. The main reason being that most lawyers get paid on a contingency fee basis so that if the lawyer does not get a settlement for his client, then the lawyer does not get paid. That is the way we work, and most lawyers are the same.

Believe it or not, most lawyers are ethical and are trying to help people get money from insurance companies that do not want to pay a fair settlement to a person who has suffered real injuries.

Misinformation You May Have Heard About Accident Injury Cases

I just posted some information about misinformation you might hear from others about accident injury cases in Virginia. 

        The insurance company adjusters are trained to know the correct information and they use that as a hammer to hit the uninformed over the head and to pay them less than their case might be worth. Be sure to read this information so you can even up the odds.

Contingency Fee lawyers

Hi I just added a new article to my library about Contingency Fee Lawyers.  

A lot of people don't realize that a personal injury lawyer does not make any money unless their client makes a recovery on their claim.  In other words, if you don't get paid on your claim then the lawyer doesn't get paid either.

If you are  injured in an accident that wasn't your fault you should definitely consider getting a lawyer's help.  Your lawyer takes care of all the little details that make up your claim so that you can get back to living a normal life.
